12th Century Racism
January 18th 2010 15:05
Francophobic is a term that best describes the hatred for the French that was around in the late 1100s. A poem by Andrew de Coutances describes the French as lazy dogs, godless, arrogant, cowards, heretics, rapists, and greedy gluttons!
Aside from being racist, the poem is nothing more than propaganda today. We are warned not to dine with the French or to grab whatever you can because they gorge themselves. We are wrongly told that Paris derives its name from partir which means to flee. We are even told that they are shameless and nothing can offend them.
Is it shocking why Francophobia is alive and well today?
