Media Piranha - August 2008

The Media Circus Entertainment

August 30th 2008 14:50
If you at times detect a bit of cynicism in my posts, it may be because of how gullible people are about a variety of subjects. Speaking of gullible, if you read this diatribe in another blog, you will see me prove my point. That is that the media chooses which stories it should sensationalize. Usually they involve the rich and the beautiful, so that it might be made into a movie or documentary. Don't believe me?

They still haven't found Caylee Anthony, but mom, Casey, has been arrested again on other charges not involving her missing daughter. From the article: Casey faces three offenses stemming from economic crime charges, including uttering a fraudulent instrument, petty theft, and fraudulent use of personal information.

Then there is this article that has a wealth of information. What makes for a good movie: Celebrity bounty hunter Leonard Padilla suddenly announced his decision Friday not to revoke the $500,000 bond he helped post to free 22-year-old Casey Anthony from jail — after saying a few hours earlier that she'd be back behind bars by the weekend.

$500,000 bond? The family isn't poor!

Article: Padilla said he probably wouldn't have helped his bail bondsman nephew put up the $500,000 bond had he known what he knows now.

Why didn't he question the nephew and why did the nephew want to put up the bail for Casey?

Then we have the lovely mother/grandmother who seems to have a taste for her own foot:

In a panicked 911 call, Caylee's grandmother Cindy Anthony said in July her daughter's car smelled like a dead body. She later explained the scent could have been that of old pizza.

Cindy Anthony was reportedly seen Thursday night hammering "No Trespassing" signs into the front lawn of the family home, and at times shouting to the gaggle of journalists staked outside since her daughter has been there on house arrest.

When asked more about the contents of the Pontiac's trunk, she told reporters she "found rotten — whatever it was — something decomposing in there. Maybe someone put a body in the car after it went to the tow yard. Why don't you call them about their security?"

Maybe somebody put a body in the car? What a winner! And it doesn't end there:

New documents released earlier this week revealed that she(Casey) wanted to give Caylee up for adoption when she was born, but her mother talked her out of it.

Let's just pretend that the assumptions we the public and media have about this case are true. That being that Casey is guilty. There are millions of children that go missing everyday and many are involved in deaths by their parents. Why sensationalize this one in particular? This goes the same with other cases worldwide involving missing children and possible cover-ups. Usually they are the rich, famous and privileged rather than the poor and unwanted and ugly.

Something smells rotten and it isn't only a decomposed body that was never found and put in the car on its way to the tow yard as brilliant Cindy puts it!

Then again, I might be wrong. About the movie and documentary, at least. How many remember Susan Smith? I'm going out on a limb here and saying that to me it was obvious she was lying from the start. Yet all believed and sympathised with her. I saw through her fake tears at every camera appearance. Her hair was in place and her mascara wasn't running, like she was crying. Her make-up was perfect as she appeared in front of world cameras.

Think about it...
