Drug War Is Working?

October 27th 2008 19:18
Many of us can say what we want about the War on Drugs as to whether, or not, it is working. I guess it depends on how you look it at. Illegal drugs are still available everywhere and practically anywhere. The pressure may be getting to some drug dealers as they are stopping their drug affairs.

This doesn't neccesarily mean that business is bad for the drug dealers, it just means they have to shift the merchandise they sell. Some drug dealers are switching to prostitution and human trafficking. I guess if we had to chose the lesser of the two evils we would chose...

Did you ever notice that despite the many years that cigarettes have had warning labels, people still continue to light up? That's because in this study, health warning labels make people want to smoke. I think it's one of those things where people believe risking their health won't happen until they're old!

The article goes further to explain that the warning labels may have an affect on your brain to make you want to smoke. It just might be a marketing ploy!

Art Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

October 26th 2008 15:27
Who can actually say what art is? Art is a personal expression. It shocks, it entertains, and often it intrigues those that behold it. Art has crossed the boundries to the point it is perceived as evil because of religion. Anyway you look at it, art is in the eyes of the beholder.

It seems that sometimes art takes a turn where it arouses debate. This especially happens when one artform is acceptable and another isn't. In my lifetime I have seen what I perceive to be fine art and other times what I thought was crap. The thing is that art is a freedom of expression and it is personal. Nobody can really define art as was once proven on an episode of the Simpsons, where Marge was against one artform and not another.

Truth be told, if you censor one form of art you have to censor them all. Whether deemed appropriate or not, art has to be accepted as a whole regardless of our beliefs.

I want to go on record as saying, that I in no way consider the following expression in the article as a form of art. But who can really say? Always remember that much like Marge, you can't have it both ways or you are viewed as a hypocrite.

Halloween art? Or stupid kid?

Weird News 2

October 23rd 2008 01:59
As with Weird News in the Arrogant News bog, this is again intersting news that would take me forever to blog. Plus I don't clog the homepage with my blogs, thus burying other entries from other writers. Then there is the fact that too many entries at once can lead to blog burn-out.

Anyway, here's more weird news that is interesting

Justice?

October 22nd 2008 21:11
The Bali bombers are to be executed by firing squad. One has to wonder if this is actually justice.

Once A PETArd...

October 22nd 2008 19:43
I've never seen an organization more determined to pass their vegetarian/vegan agenda than PETA. Meat is murder and so is the eating of vegetables if you go by that Swiss law I blogged about. I don't understand why the Petards feel that I must be one of them and not hurt or destroy animals of any kind. Most wouldn't think twice about abortion in humans, which proves their hypocrisy because humans are animals, too!

They protest zoos and circuses by using almost naked, painted voluptuous women in a cage. They are demanding attention and that's a good way to go about it. Many who have seen it in my area, were eating a steak while enjoying the show

Self-Righteous Censorship

October 22nd 2008 19:08
It's sad when a group of individuals try to spread their morals and beliefs on others by infringing on their rights. It's worse when one person decides what's appropriate for others. Of course, you do have to look at all sides of the argument. After all there are things that are just plain inappropriate. You really don't want children exposed to pornography, but in today's high-tech world it's tough to stop it!

There is a controversy brewing over a children's library book. The book, called The Book Of Bunny Suicides, was deemed inappropriate by a child's mother. Her son brought the book home from the school library. He is 13 years-old, and his mother inspected the book and refuses to return it to the library

Diagnosing Death

October 22nd 2008 00:02
I once thought a TV show was funny when a dead man could not be considered dead until a doctor declared him dead. Far-fetched as it sounds, it is true. It came as a surprise to me when I heard that doctors get death diagnosing tips! How to diagnose if somone is truly dead seems not to really require rocket science.

It seems that, although rare, there are cases of an incorrect diagnosis. When it involves death? Isn't ONE too many???

Know-It-Alls' Downfalls

October 19th 2008 13:31
You really should read the instructions!

That is the theme of today's entry where people use dangerous household chemicals. They have no clue, until the inevitable happens. If we mix bleach with other cleaners, we will get an overwhelming surprise as our eyes tear and breathing becomes painful. That should be known to anyone that does some cleaning

Abortion a form of Divide-and-Conquer

October 18th 2008 22:43
Something seems to happen when a topic such as 'abortion' comes up. People feel strongly about their opinions on this one and will fiercely defend this beliefs. Everybody seems to know that when you talk about politics and religion you are asking for a fight. Lets face it, we are stubborn and don't want to be proved wrong. Religion and politics fill that nicely because everybody is adamant about their beliefs.

Remember the preceding paragraph because it is my disclaimer!

What's Wrong With This Picture?

October 18th 2008 21:13
A 3-year-old boy was left alone on a school bus for six hours. The bus driver and monitor were arrested and charged with reckless and child endangerment. School officials thought the boy had stayed home and only after the mother came to pick him up was he reported missing.

Let's look closely at this situation. A 3-year-old going to school? Doesn't make sense. May have been a Nursery school. A mother that trusts her 3-year-old with other children and the bus personel? Makes you wonder. The school officials are just covering themselves because a child this young should be confirmed staying home by calling his mother. It just shocks me that this tragedy should have been avoided altogether beginning with the parents

It All Started When...

October 16th 2008 22:23
A baby was found alone in an unlocked car with the keys inside. As if that wasn't horrible enough, the vehicle was parked in the parking lot of a strip club. When police arrived, they ran the plate and found the name of the owner.

They entered the club and asked around for information. They found the owner/father getting a lap dance from a stripper! Lucky his wife worked at the club and was able to get her baby

Lowest Form of Life

October 15th 2008 22:29
As morals become the lowest priority for humanity, we continue to become a sickened society of greed. And just as you say 'how low can it go?', it takes a turn for the worst. Family is no longer family, but vultures in search of freebies.

So how low can it go? I'm guessing we haven't seen the end of that peak, yet. A mother and son abused the mother's mom and after she died they cremated her body in a barbeque oven. Of course they continued to cash her checks, and the daughter made a piece of skull into a necklace
