Priority BS PR and Outright Lies

April 29th 2009 23:45
I work at an airport and remember a couple of months ago, during winter break, student friends heading to Cancun, Mexico. At the time there was a travel alert to Mexico because of the drug wars being in full swing and bloody. Amazingly this didn't deter the party goers from going to Mexico to party their behinds off!

That means that danger does not deter spring breakers from going to their party Mecca and partying. So why are we shocked that suddenly we have a spread of Swine flu from Mexico? We should have warned about the flu rather than gun toting thugs that kill for a drug deal.

Drug cartel, no problem, swine flu problem! If we heeded the government's warning about the drug wars, we could have spared the USA from an early Swine flu pandemic.

Common sense isn't very common and most people make wrong and costly decisions that effect the rest of us.

The Terminator

April 29th 2009 18:20
Well it finally happened. Science fiction has now become science fact. It involves a robot attacking a human!

It actually happened in June 2007 at a factory in Sweden, but better writing about it late than never. The robot appeared to be asleep, but came very much alive when the industrial worker approached it. The robot grabbed the worker's head but the man managed to defend himself. He still had sustained serious injuries.

It simply amazes me how technological we have become with gadgets that were once a topic for science fiction movies. Just the past 20 years have seen an acceleration of products available to everyday people. Who imagined having a home computer, the internet, smaller cellphones(the first ones looked like a thick book with an antenna), dvds, etc.?

I know that various forms of robots have been around for years, but the fact that a robot attacks a human has been the topic of many a sci-fi movie for many decades right up to the present. I'm surprised somebody didn't see something like this coming!

Human Rights Double-Standards

April 25th 2009 14:41
It has come to the attention of most intelligent people that every time somebody's rights are violated in the USA, the world will dissect it and make a worldwide issue about it. I can use the Guantanamo Bay issue to prove my immediate point, but it runs deeper than that. It actually goes back to The Cold War, but that's another issue.

If we truly open our eyes and look at our own governments we will find that all governments violate human rights in one way or another. You can say what you will but when it comes to human rights, China must be by far one of the worst.

Noisy Sex Fines

April 18th 2009 20:01
Can you believe this? You can now be fined for noisy sex in some parts of the world!

Apparently if you have more fun than the hermit virgin next door, they will report you for getting a piece by disturbing the peace. Yet another group that gets offended by those that can live life to the fullest

Sending Your Baby To The Moon

April 4th 2009 17:37
Even though you try to trust your government to look out for your best interest, one has to wonder whose interest the government is watching. Is our air truly safe? Are there too many chemicals in the environment? Are we exposed to elements that may harm us? I mean, the list can go on and on.

The sad fact is that too many harmful elements get past the watchful government for it to really care about our individual interests. It passes it off that trace elements aren't harmful to individuals. But can you really trust them
