February 28th 2010 15:06
Warning: May be highly controversial.

Can the majority who claim racism be exempt from being racist?

You decide.

The Blind Can See...

February 27th 2010 15:05
This is a humorous look at the sad state of affairs of New York State. In case you didn't hear, Governor Paterson is not going to run for governor of NYS. It would seem that the blind Governor has come to the realization that he doesn't have a chance in hell of winning.

Another reason he decided to call it quits, after he screws our state up more until the end of his term, is because of a scandal involving a trusted aide. In a case of de`ja vu, Paterson appeared on TV with his wife by his side...as did Elliot Spitzer. He raised his right hand as he made the 'never abused my office' comment.

A few weeks ago, Paterson was asked by what means he arrived to my area. He replied that he 'drove' to this little corner of upstate. This from New York City that is about a 6 hour drive!

Imagine a blind man with his eyes half open driving on the Thruway? I can picture a flatbed truck with a car on the back. Paterson gets in the car that doesn't move, while a truck driver drives him around. As someone put it, 'Paterson taxed everything but the air we breathe!' That may have been next.

So Paterson has 10 more months to screw things up. And looking at his lame track record, he will!

Scanner Controversy Grows

February 17th 2010 18:20
It seems that there is a rising uproar over the use of full-body scanners at airports. We are seeing a protest by various groups. This even though we have been warned about an
imminent attack. It really makes no sense since you can refuse the scanner if you would rather be patted down by a TSA agent.

Lets face it, if it walks, swims and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Yet we feel a need to not offend anybody and therefore cannot say that a particular group of fanatics tends to do us harm. So let's go to the land of of political correctness...

America's equivalent to the ACLU is saying that body scanners are unlawful.

We can see that there is a growing number of controversy regarding these scanners. There is something brewing to get rid of a useful weapon in the fight against terror. Even if you disagree with my assessment, you must see the irony to all this!

I disagreed to the body scanners because of various other reasons, but one must overlook the violations to avoid a fanatical attack. From the article:
...the commission then said it was concerned especially for the privacy of certain groups such as disabled people, the elderly, children and the transgendered community.
You might notice how a 'certain' fanatical group isn't mentioned?

It's Your Fault!

February 16th 2010 17:01
We may be going back in time when it comes our attitude about rape. This from an online survey by Wake Up To Rape. To understand this article, you need to know where I am coming from.

When I went to college, decades ago, my field of choice was mental health. I wanted to become a psychologist at the time. I went to various agencies that dealt with mental health issues. One was a rape crisis help agency. There I was enlightened about what women deal with in rape...although men get raped too, we tend to look differently at men issues. Still this is about being forced to do something against your will

If They Fear It, It Works!

February 14th 2010 00:09
Apparently, the full-body scanner at airports may work better than even I first thought. You start to see why Europe has become what it has. People have protested the scanners for various reasons, myself included.

The full-body scanner may very well be our weapon that can detect bomb-laden breasts, or other implanted explosives. A particular group has a big problem with body scanners violating rules of modesty. Muslim Americans say the scanners violate Islamic law. Since most terrorists fit a Muslim profile, one has to wonder why certain religions are allowed to use 'religious' laws in a secular world. It goes without question that if Christians had a problem with them, they would issue some agnostic statement as to why nobody cares

Moral Police and Valentine's Day

February 13th 2010 13:57
I wanted to publish this a few days ago, but something came up and I couldn't do so. We often feel our rights are violated when a moral-majority group tries to dictate how society should be run as a whole. They don't accept the beliefs of others as they try to force their beliefs on others.

Next thing you know we'll have the religious police breathing down our necks telling us what we can or can't do; what we can watch and not watch; who or what we must pray to and what beliefs we must never allow, etc., you get the picture. This is why we must protect our freedoms to allow all to live their lives freely without religious bondage. Yet we still hear of not being tolerable for freedoms and beliefs

Implant Bombers

February 8th 2010 15:59
We may be witnessing an evolution in suicide bombers. Since terrorists never rest, a new twist appears and may be the next wave of explosives that may be hard to detect. Women suicide bombers are getting breast implants that are loaded with explosives.

The recruiting is by al-Qaeda that may be planning an attack on US soil by July. The new tactics of using explosive implants shows how determined our enemy is to attack us. They are also shifting to women suicide bombers that may be harder to detect in the long run.

Burqa Criminals

February 7th 2010 16:17
If some wonder why societies have a problem with the full cover Burqa used by Muslim women, then wonder no more! Some will take advantage of any situation that gives them easy access to criminal activity. You have to wonder if the robbers were men or women which would make this a double-edged sword.

In my opinion, if people truly believe in the separation of church and state, then religion should play no part in our secular societies. One can't single out one religion's symbols and turn a blind eye to others. Our societies are based on interactions and non-verbal communications which makes it hard when you can't see the face

Supporting Our Troops

February 7th 2010 15:04
Whether people agree or disagree with the war, we all do what we can to support our troops. Many give to charity organizations that are geared towards the troops in general. Others give in other ways.

I found a way to give to any soldier what they really need and want. AnySoldier.com lets you pick a soldier in harms way and send them what they want and need. The site provides all the information you need to send a soldier some true support. Take note that after the introduction story there are links to support our fighters in other branches of the military.

Terror Target: Hotels

February 6th 2010 18:06
Sometimes you need to follow what terrorists do in other countries to find a major vulnerability at home. Since deadly attacks have doubled on American-based hotels abroad, one should consider a possible scenario here at home.

For fear of not alarming the general public, it is business as usual at American hotels here at home. Forget that we have the technology to thwart off an attack or dramatically lower the number of casualties, we choose to err on the side of luck rather than caution. Don't worry until it happens and then deal with it is the basic philosophy

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You!

February 4th 2010 16:29
Since they missed the obvious warning signs on the crotch bomber, the CIA is making sure that we are not caught by surprise when we face our next attack. The CIA and FBI are warning that an al-Qaeda attack on US soil is imminent. They say that it's not a matter of 'if' but rather 'when'.

They think it will happen within 6 months. Al-Qaeda has already sent operatives in the US to plan the targets and attacks. What the attacks will be remains a mystery. Al-Qaeda is also encouraging radicals to take matters in their own hands. Ft. Hood comes to mind, since Muslim extremists have been using 'lone gunmen' for years here on American soil. The crotch bomber and shoe bomber were a type of lone gunman. The object is to kill as many as possible even if it means your death
