Abortion a form of Divide-and-Conquer
October 18th 2008 22:43
Something seems to happen when a topic such as 'abortion' comes up. People feel strongly about their opinions on this one and will fiercely defend this beliefs. Everybody seems to know that when you talk about politics and religion you are asking for a fight. Lets face it, we are stubborn and don't want to be proved wrong. Religion and politics fill that nicely because everybody is adamant about their beliefs.
Remember the preceding paragraph because it is my disclaimer!
About abortion in the US, statistics show that it peaked. More here and here, to name a few.
What do I believe and see when it comes to topics of abortion or life? Many things that go against the norm. Any way you look at it, it takes two to tango and it is a selfish act when the woman declares it is only her decision. Yes, I understand there are circumstances when the man is no longer around for whatever reason. I also see the issue from a smaller community and am able to see what big cities may miss on the topics.
I see more upper class women having abortions. They usually come from upper middle class or upper class families. The poor don't have abortions because children are income. Sad but true. They bring welfare checks. The poor seem to be the ones who should be pro-abortion, but that would mean working and claiming responsibility.
So am I pro-life or pro-abortion? I say as with anything in life, you can't claim 100% loyalty to any beliefs. Abortion works in cases of teenage pregnancy, rape, child with severe handicap or brain damage, unwanted pregnancy, etc. I think adaption should be considered before abortion although I understand the 'what if they look for me' deal.
There are too many contraceptives in this world to ask why people can even consider abortion. We need to accept responsibility for our actions. It shouldn't be accepted that we seek an easy way out of our problems regardless if we are pro-life or pro-choice.
The abortion issue is a combination of both politics and religion and tends to divide due to beliefs and allegiance and misconceptions.
