Culture Shock

December 28th 2008 21:28
One should experience different cultures of the world to understand the erroneous ideas we have of them. One sees them often through the propaganda that comes from the media. What we perceive about different cultures of the world may or may not be true and may or may not represent the ideas and images of the majority. Yes I will use legal twisted terms, because sometimes we are right in our perceptions and other times we are not! This goes for me, you, us and them!!!

One can read the various blogs from around the world and read about things that may surprise us about different cultures. JapanSlate is a good example of things you may not know about Japan. I am about to take a world tour on articles that may or may not surprise me about weird things from around the world. Maybe I should replace that with 'things that seem weird to me' from around the world!

Leave it to Canada to come up with a new degree for higher learning. Now you can get your Ph.D. in beer spoilage! The University of Saskatchewan has a beer lab which is important because:
Haakensen says the only other lab in the world studying beer spoilage is based out of the Asahi brewery in Japan.

Speaking of Japan, there seems to be a new fetish going on there. It's all over manhole covers!

In the US, if you bought a Hallmark jumbo snowman snow globe, you might want to keep it out of the sunlight. This might cause the snow globe to act like a magnifying glass and possibly start fires.

In Britain they want to put age-ratings on websites to prevent children from entering sites that are not suitable for them. Am I the only one who sees how this can backfire?

Remember the show Jackass where stunt men performed stunts? The show probably would have gone unnoticed if not for the idiots who attempted the stunts and filmed themselves. Many times they failed and amused. Well Sweden has a Jackass moment!

New Zealand tells about the year's stupidest criminals...and cops!

The Swiss save the French!

In conclusion I'm heading back to Japan. I call the 'feel good' story from around the world. It starts with Japan's unemployed and homeless and ends at an Internet cafe!
