Human Rights Double-Standard II
May 21st 2009 11:51
I'm sure that unless you've been living under a rock, the world has heard about the dreaded Somali pirates. They attack and seize ships and crews and demand a ransom for their safe return. Remember the smiling pirate captured by US Navy SEALs after a Captain was held hostage? Seems he has a lot to smile about!
First, he is still alive. Next he may want to seek asylum, due to human rights violation in Somalia!
Seems ironic that low-life pirates who violate human rights are complaining about them. You know you're in trouble when a prison toilet is better than the one at home. Still the pirates will retrieve their families to join them, once they are released in their new homes!
I find it hard to believe that their families' human rights will be violated while they wait their release. This is like terrorism finding yet another loophole in OUR freedoms and rights. Best thing would be to try them in neutral waters...but they have rights, too!
