In Agreement With PETA
November 2nd 2008 00:01
After you revive from the title of this entry, let me add one thing...to a point! I agree with PETA to a point. I've always disliked circuses and entertainment that involved death-defying acts. One of my first experience was hearing how a woman was killed in a circus act in my town. She was shot by her blindfolded husband who was going to shoot a cup above her head.
This doesn't even touch on the cruelty of having wild animals perform for the public's entertainment. This includes Sigfried and Roy, too. I don't particularly care for zoos, either, because most of the animals are neurotic due to unnatural conditions. This includes those who try to mimic a natural environment.
So there are times that I may agree with PETA but not their tactics that sometimes border stupidity. You remember the sea kittens I wrote about elsewhere?
I have to commend PETA for their insights into the tactics of animal cruelty by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus on their elephants and other animals. Then they spoil it when they offer an animatronic option to replace their elephants!
The elephants seem doomed unless people just start boycotting these dens of cruelty. PETA should keep focusing on true animal cruelty rather than defining what we can eat!
...just my opinion.
