Commentary
In my country of origin it has happened many times that fathers, brothers, uncles, etc., have engaged in honor killings. Give it time, because like wildfire it is spreading like wildfire fast. Most honor killings among Islamics and Muslim is over 'promised' daughters trying to marry someone other than the intended groom that was promised by the parents at the birth of a daughter. It takes on a new meaning and intensity when a 'promised' daughter falls for someone outside the religion.
In the 70s I knew a Lebanese mother and daughter that had converted to Christianity. To make a long story short they were beaten by the husband, sons and uncles. Eventually I lost touch and have no idea what happened to them. I was young and drifted apart from them, but hope they were not met by a terrible fate.
It seems that in Muslim societies it is an insult to the honor when female members date outside their religion. These insults are punishable by death. It gets even worse if the woman decides to change religion. It's been proven time and time again, but prepare for the worst as the Muslim population grows.
If you don't see it coming, then you are blind or in denial. This is one of those entries that only the future will prove. If the girl is returned and/or killed by the males it proves this goes on. Woman's rights seem to be powerless against Islam but there are always the Christians to defame!
I try to keep it real rather than render personal judgment, but I will talk about ANY religion that hides behind a false cloak of tolerance. Be it Christian, Hebrew, Islam, Atheist, etc., in my eyes nobody is better than anybody else when it comes to personal beliefs. I will deal with reality and facts rather than picking and choosing.
In case you forgot, I've been to an Islamic country. Have you? And if you have, did you deal with the reality of it?
