It's Your Fault!

We may be going back in time when it comes our attitude about rape. This from an online survey by Wake Up To Rape. To understand this article, you need to know where I am coming from.
When I went to college, decades ago, my field of choice was mental health. I wanted to become a psychologist at the time. I went to various agencies that dealt with mental health issues. One was a rape crisis help agency. There I was enlightened about what women deal with in rape...although men get raped too, we tend to look differently at men issues. Still this is about being forced to do something against your will.
I learned from the spokesperson that a small percent of rape is ever reported. Also, if you go to court and are a woman, it is better to have an all-man jury than to have even one woman. Woman are judgmental of other woman. The general attitude of society is that it is the woman's fault and she provoked the rape...somehow! I learned that if a woman has been raped and calls the center, it is better if there is a woman at the other end.
This was the attitude in my area decades ago. From the article we seem to be returning to the era of the cave dweller. Women once again believe that basically the woman provoked the rape in some manner.
The shocking thing is that five years ago, the ones who blamed the rape victim were a minority. Attitudes have changed and regressed to a more primitive era.
