Know-It-Alls' Downfalls

You really should read the instructions!
That is the theme of today's entry where people use dangerous household chemicals. They have no clue, until the inevitable happens. If we mix bleach with other cleaners, we will get an overwhelming surprise as our eyes tear and breathing becomes painful. That should be known to anyone that does some cleaning.
Perhaps the most dangerous common chemicals in our households are pesticides. We all know how dangerous pesticides are and how greener chemicals can't do as effective of a job. In an infestation, drastic matters are needed to rid our abode of dirty insects.
If you don't read the instructions, do yourself a favor and call the exterminator. You know it is desperate if you are buying 'foggers' to rid the pests. These in themselves are a pain in the neck and come with warnings that may make you think twice before buying. You have to stay away for at least 4 hours, no pets of any kind should be left in the area, remember to take food items, eating utensils and plates and glasses out of the area, etc. Some say to cover your dishes with newspaper or something. Its been over 30 years since I used one, but I often read precautions on various insecticides in stores.
New York State will ban the sale of foggers to the general public. If you read between the lines, it is mostly because people are stupid and don't read the instructions. Thus poisoning themselves. An episode of Seinfeld once poked humor at dangerous pesticides, as Kramer went into Jerry's apartment while it was being fumegated for fleas. Kramer thought the skull-and-bones warning, Danger-Do Not Enter, was just a joke!
