Proof:Anti-Christians Are Not Always Neutral

April 4th 2008 14:39
Put up a weird artform in front of a Courthouse, and see what happens if there is a TRUE separation of church and state. Check out what happens when the Flying Spaghetti Monster suddenly appears.

From the article:
While some may argue the statue was not locally done in effort to mock or belittle Christians, the idea of the spaghetti monster in its original context was proposed to do just that. In other words, the spaghetti monster concept was created to undermine the credibility of Intelligent Design as an alternative theory to Darwinian evolution. In spite of their best efforts to appear as the objective, rational party, those opposed to Intelligent Design and the influence of religion upon the state have shown themselves to not be so “neutral” after all.

also:
If Congress is to give no precedence to one religion over another, let’s make sure the Church of Darwin is treated no differently.

darwinism isnt an organised religion

a secular society doesnt dictate where ideas for legilation are inspired from, it enforces the separation of church and state so the church and priests are not not the sole law-makers and people from any faith (or lack thereof) can be elected to participate in the law-making process

its just a piece of contemporary art, there are plenty of religious icons immortalised in art and religious statues are still erected in public places

atheists are not necessarily "anti-christian" they just have different opinions, they dont try to prevent christians from practicing their faith, they just arent willing to accept the bible as common law

Again people, read my other posts before you judge on one. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and most are wrong...including myself and, here's a shock, YOU. NO where does it mention ATHEISTS, that's just an assumption.

The point was that had the artifact been of the 'religious' variety then there would have been an outrage. Either way something religious or not does not belong in a public building.

And Christianity doesn't ALWAYS involve priests...another fallicy! Darwinism-being a BELIEF-is up there with Scientology!

What's good for the goose...

definition from wiki:
The term "Darwinism" is often used in the USA by promoters of creationism to describe evolution, notably by leading members of the intelligent design movement. In this usage, the term has connotations of atheism. For example, in Charles Hodge's book What Is Darwinism?, Hodge answers the question posed in the book's title by concluding: "It is Atheism." Creationists use the term Darwinism, often pejoratively, to imply that the theory has been held as true only by Darwin and a core group of his followers, whom they cast as dogmatic and inflexible in their belief. Casting evolution as a doctrine or belief bolsters religiously motivated political arguments to mandate equal time for the teaching of creationism in public schools.

in the USA christian monuments can be displayed in public spaces if they are of a mixed but primarily non-religious purpose ie not being used to promote religion

eg the case of a 6 foot high granite Ten Commandments displayed among nearly 40 monuments and historical markers spread across 22 acres in front of the capitol in Austin, Texas

apparently there are 4,000 Ten Commandments displays in public courthouses and parks across the USA, and yes some of them do cause outrage and court proceedings

this year the federal courts ruled another 6 foot tall stone Ten Commandments display was entitled to sit near an old city hall building in Everett, Washington because as it was not considered to have a soley religious purpose

legally art displayed in public spaces can be either religious or non-religious in inspiration as long as its overall message is neutral and its purpose is not to undermine the secular laws

Ten Commandments are Judeo moreso than Christian. Having been a Catholic this is a mistake that particular religion makes. True Christians know that Jesus Christ was greater than the Commandments.

Again your arguments make no sense unless they are a cross or figures of Jesus and the saints.

Just to be clear-I am a firm believer in the Seraration of Church and state, because without it we are no better than the Countries we critisize for being ruled by religion.

The 'Christian' politician who was pushing for the monuments to be dispayed was just showboating and going against the true belief of Christians.

Your separation might seem new and 'atheists' often make it look like they're the ones pushing the 'church and state' movement. Too bad Jesus beat them to it when he said "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's!'

Yes you can argue that there are hundreds of interpretationsof the Bible, but you really can't get any clearer than that! It's unfortunate that Christians give atheists more time than they're worth, instead of letting them wallow in their own vomit...which is what I'm going to do now!

well after the oklahoma city bombing in 1995 a large sculpture of jesus weeping titled "And Jesus Wept" was erected in memorial of the tragedy for public viewing, it is a lovely tribute, im sure in was welcomed by the community as a historical artifact

you seem to have alot of paranoid hostility towards people with different views to your own . . . i think christians are people who believe in christ as the son of god and follow the bible, the ten commandment are from the old testament arent they?
