Racism Today
September 17th 2008 23:25
Does racism exist today? That has to be the dumbest question ever asked, because racism is alive and well today. The thing is, why does the cycle seem to never end?
I guess it depends on who you ask about white privilege and black dependency. Perhaps this arguement is expected to never end. Or maybe slowly but surely it is getting better. Racism isn't what it was 50 years ago, or 40, or 30, etc., and it certainly isn't like the 16-1800s in the USA.
If Obama is elected President of the United States, he has a big issue on his hands. Now depending what your personal views are, you might view his message differently than someone else. Bill Cosby took alot of heat in the African-American communities over his comments.
One of my favorite bands, Rush, gave the formula(sorta speak) that leads to racism:
Quick to judge
Quick to anger
Slow to understand
Ignorance and prejudice
And fear walk hand in hand...
...and that goes for all sides involved.
