Sometimes you need to follow what terrorists do in other countries to find a major vulnerability at home. Since deadly attacks have doubled on American-based hotels abroad, one should consider a possible scenario here at home.
For fear of not alarming the general public, it is business as usual at American hotels here at home. Forget that we have the technology to thwart off an attack or dramatically lower the number of casualties, we choose to err on the side of luck rather than caution. Don't worry until it happens and then deal with it is the basic philosophy.
With no real precautions being taken by hotels, it is up to the individual of being more vigilant during a hotel stay. Especially an international chain in a major city.
